Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his gritty storytelling and bold views, recently made a surprising remark about one of his most acclaimed films, Gangs of Wasseypur. Speaking to Digital Commentary, he said, "Mujhe Wasseypur se saqt nafrat hai. Jab bhi koi aadmi bolta hai na, 'Sir Wasseypur,' mann karta hai joota utarkar maru (I absolutely hate Wasseypur. Whenever someone mentions it, I feel like taking off my shoe and hitting them)."

His anger is at the audience's indifference to the film
Kashyap's anger is not directed at the film but at how audiences treated it when it was released. He stated that if audiences had supported his films when it truly mattered, his career could have taken a very different turn. "When Wasseypur was released, no one watched it. It ran in theaters for just four days before Tiger Zinda Hai took over," he said.

Kashyap further lamented, "It earned ₹22 crore in those four days, yet the studio called it a flop. And now you want me to make another one? Why should I make it for you?"
