Swara Bhasker, born on April 9, 1988, is an Indian actress who works in the Hindi film industry. She made her acting debut with the 2009 movie ‘Madholal Keep Walking' that was screened at the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival. She rose to prominence by appearing in the highly successful film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ in 2011. The film also earned Bhasker a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2013, she appeared in the romantic drama ‘Raanjhanaa’, which was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of that year. In 2016, she played the lead role in Anand L Rai's comedy-drama film ‘Nil Battey Sannata’, which won Bhasker the Screen Award for Best Actress (Critics). She is also known for serving as a host on Shyam Benegal's TV miniseries titled ‘Samvidhaan’. She is an alumna of Miranda House, University of Delhi, and completed her master’s in sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi.
