Bollywood producer Siddiqui's cheque bounce conviction stands

Entertainment

Bollywood producer Abdul Samee Siddiqui, known for Horn OK Please, just had his 2019 conviction in a cheque bounce case upheld by a Mumbai court.
He'll serve one month in jail and must pay ₹5.5 lakh to Ashfaq H. Mansoori after a cheque he issued back in 2013 bounced due to insufficient funds.

Why the court said "no" to his appeal

Siddiqui argued there weren't enough documents to prove the deal, but the court pointed out that once you issue a cheque, the law assumes you owe the money.
While his company got off on technical grounds, Siddiqui still has to pay up—with 6% annual interest since 2013—or risk more jail time.
The case is a reminder: don't issue cheques unless you're sure there's money in your account.
