Box office: 'Mardaani 3' continues to struggle, makes ₹22 crore
Rani Mukerji is back as tough cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in "Mardaani 3," a crime thriller directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Yash Raj Films.
The film, which hit theaters on January 30, follows Shivani as she tackles a new case about missing girls, continuing the franchise's focus on gritty social issues.
Alongside Mukerji, Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad play key roles.
Looking at film in numbers
"Mardaani 3" kicked off with ₹4 crore on Friday, jumped to ₹6.25 crore Saturday, and peaked at ₹7.25 crore Sunday.
Collections dipped after the weekend—Monday saw just over ₹2 crore, but Tuesday bounced slightly to around ₹2.7 crore.
So far, it's made about ₹22 crore in India (₹26+ crore gross), with reports putting the worldwide total between ₹28 crore and ₹33.25 crore.
That's still only about 37% of its estimated ₹60-crore budget.
'Mardaani' franchise achieves this milestone
Even with its box office challenges, "Mardaani 3" has set a record: it's now the only Hindi female cop series to reach three films in just over a decade (about 12 years).
For fans of strong women leads and real-world drama, that's something worth celebrating.
