What's the story

Pop icon Britney Spears's mugshot will not be made public following her recent DUI arrest, reported TMZ. An official from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office told the outlet that the booking photo does not fulfill the necessary criteria for public release. The department only publishes mugshots in cases of violent crimes or when a suspect poses a threat to the public, neither of which applies to Spears.

Incident recap

More on Spears's DUI arrest

Spears, 44, was arrested for DUI in Ventura County, California, on March 4. She was reportedly driving her BMW erratically at a high speed when California Highway Patrol officers stopped her. The Grammy-winning singer was booked at 3:02am and released after about three hours. Officers suspected she was under the influence of both drugs and alcohol, but her chemical test results are still pending. She is set to appear in court on May 4.

Manager's statement

Manager calls the incident 'unfortunate'

Cade Hudson, Spears's manager, described her arrest as "unfortunate" and "completely inexcusable." He told Page Six, "Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life." An insider revealed to the outlet that Spears was "crying and very tearful" during her arrest, adding she didn't want to disappoint anyone, including her fans.
