CBFC ends tatkal certification, requires 30 to 40 day process
Big change alert: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has ended its tatkal system, which let filmmakers get movies certified super quickly (10-15 days) if they paid extra.
Now, everyone has to use the regular process, which takes 30-40 days.
The idea is to make things fair for all, but it also means no more shortcuts for those rushing to release.
Unpredictable certification could complicate festival releases
With tatkal gone, producers will need to plan releases more carefully since delays could mess with marketing and distribution.
Film producer Anand Pandit called the fast-track option a "safety net" for last-minute releases.
Smaller and regional filmmakers might feel this change even more. Founder and CEO of Odia platform AAO NXT, Kaushik Das, pointed out that festival or holiday releases could get tricky if certification isn't predictable.
Keeping the process smooth and timely is now extra important for everyone.
