'Meet you in Indore': Diljit confirms show amid bomb threats
What's the story
Despite facing bomb threats and objections over some of his tracks, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has confirmed that he will perform at the AURA India Tour concert in Indore on November 15. Team Dosanjh posted a video of the singer on Instagram: "I will visit Indore on 15th of November." "Anyone can say anything, but I will meet you in Indore on 15th November." He also humorously mentioned having poha when he arrives.
Controversies
Bomb threats and song restrictions for Dosanjh's Indore concert
The singer's upcoming concert in Indore has been marred by bomb threats, safety concerns, and an order to remove certain songs from the setlist.
Three private schools and the office of Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava received emails earlier this week threatening a bomb blast on the day of the concert.
The emails also advised schools not to send their students to the event.
Investigation underway
Police believe bomb threat emails are hoaxes
Investigations by the Police suggest that the bomb threats may be a hoax.
Rajesh Dandotiya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, said the crime branch was analyzing evidence to trace the senders.
Additionally, on Friday, the District Child Protection Officer told C-21 Mall management to ensure Dosanjh does not perform four songs: Patiala Pegg, 5 Taara Theeke, Jeeb Vicho Labbiya, and Jatt Uthe Fire Karda.
Officials claim they reportedly glorify intoxicants and violence.
Previous challenges
Similar challenges faced by Dosanjh in Delhi
The situation in Indore isn't new for Dosanjh, who has faced hurdles in other cities too.
His October 30 concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi was also uncertain, after the Delhi Police initially withheld permission.
It cited security and law-and-order arrangements during the festive period.
Organizers then submitted a revised security plan with additional measures for safety, traffic, and crowd control, after which permission was granted, and the show went on as scheduled.
