Donald Trump refuses to intervene in Warner Bros. Discovery bidding
President Donald Trump is officially sitting out the big showdown between Netflix and Paramount Skydance over who gets Warner Bros. Discovery.
Even though he hinted last December that he might step in, Trump now says he's leaving it to the Justice Department.
Both sides wanted him involved, but he's staying neutral in this media power struggle.
Netflix vs Paramount Skydance: The bidding war explained
This all kicked off when Netflix dropped a massive $72 billion offer to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery's film studio and HBO—including the HBO Max streaming service and its blockbuster movies.
Not to be outdone, Paramount Skydance pursued a competing bid for broader Warner Bros. Discovery assets and later launched a hostile takeover attempt after approaches were rejected.
Now it's a full-on bidding war, with antitrust regulators in the US and Europe having the final say on who wins control of these major media assets.
The outcome could seriously shake up what we watch next.
