Farah Khan earns more from YouTube vlogs than from direction
What's the story
Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan, known for Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, has revealed that she now earns much more from content creation than she ever did from directing movies. In a recent podcast with tennis superstar Sania Mirza on Serving It Up With Sania, she spoke about this unexpected career turn and her love for the digital space. Her YouTube channel has 2.42M subscribers.
Vlogging success
Hit vlogs with cook Dilip
Khan's YouTube vlogs, which feature her and her cook Dilip, have been a major hit. The duo's humorous banter and glimpses into their daily lives have made their videos popular among viewers. When Mirza asked Khan which profession she would pick, content creation, choreography, or direction, Khan confessed, "Maximum money is in content creation."
Career choice
'No, personally, I have made the most money in...'
However, despite her success in vlogging, Khan clarified that her true passion still lies in directing. She said, "No, personally, I have made the most money in content creation. But if you ask me what I want to do, that would be direction. That's my thing." Her last film as a director was the 2014 hit Happy New Year, which earned ₹397 crore worldwide, per Sacnilk.
Earnings distribution
Khan shares earnings with Dilip
Khan has also revealed that a portion of her vlogging earnings goes to Dilip. In a previous vlog with Shruti Haasan, she confirmed that he earns a high amount from their YouTube videos. "Yes, he gets a lot, more than everyone here put together. Don't be worried about him, be worried about me," she said.
