Hailing from a family of actors, Shruti Haasan is an actress and playback singer working in the Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi film industries since 2009. She is the daughter of actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur and the sister of actor Akshara Haasan. She was always interested in working in the cinema and music industries and moved to the US to study music at the Musicians Institute in California. After returning to Chennai, she was seen in the Tamil-Hindi bilingual movie ‘Hey Ram’ in 2000. However, she only played a minor role in it. After rejecting a series of movies, Haasan made a debut in 2009 as the lead actress in the movie ‘Luck’. After the failure of her first film at the box office, she made a debut in the Telugu cinema in 2011 with the film ‘Anaganaga O Dheerudu’. Her next Bollywood film ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ became a commercial success on the big screen. In the following years, Haasan's career changed with the release of the Tamil film ‘3’. ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ (2013) received average reviews from the audience. Later, she was seen in Bollywood films like ‘Welcome Back’, ‘Gabbar is Back’, and ‘Tevar’. In 2019, she made her American television show with ‘Treadstone’.
