The 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2025 with Gujarat Tourism was a star-studded affair at the Eka Arena in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The event celebrated the best films and performances from the past year. Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress award for her performance in Jigra. She has previously bagged the Black Lady for Highway (critics' award), Udta Punjab, Raazi, Gully Boy, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Jigra, which celebrated its first anniversary on October 11, tells the story of Satya Anand (Bhatt), who breaks jail boundaries to rescue her brother Ankur (Vedang Raina) from false drug possession charges. The Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) category was extremely competitive, with Kareena Kapoor Khan (Crew), and Kriti Sanon (Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya) competing for the award. Shraddha Kapoor (Stree 2), Tabu (Crew), and Yami Gautam (Article 370) were also vying for the honor.

In the critics category, Bhatt was also nominated for Jigra alongside Kapoor Khan (The Buckingham Murders), Nitanshi Goel (Laapataa Ladies), Pratibha Ranta (Laapataa Ladies) and Vidya Balan (Do Aur Do Pyaar). Ranta won the award. The event also featured performances by Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanon, Ananya Panday, and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
