Hyderabad to host Udaan-e-Sur singing contest for visually impaired youth
A new singing competition called Udan-e-Sur is happening in Hyderabad this weekend, giving visually impaired young people a chance to shine.
Organized by Youth4Jobs and Wind Horse Records Studio, the event brings together nine talented contestants from Telangana and Hyderabad.
Meera Shenoy, founder of Youth4Jobs, said she was inspired by seeing a blind band perform, hopes this platform will help these musicians get noticed and explore real career options in music.
Udan-e-Sur finale April 4 Banjara Hills
The grand finale is set for April 4 at Ashiana conference hall in Banjara Hills. From around 45 applicants, just nine made it to the final stage.
The jury features Hindustani vocalist Harini Rao, music director Karthik Kodakandla, and singer Mahesh Joshi, with Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan as chief guest.
Shenoy says the goal is simple: This is a small attempt to help them own and showcase their talent, something society often doesn't see, so that it can, perhaps, become a profession someday.
The buzz has already reached other states, so this could be just the beginning!
