In Delhi, nearly 1,500 people were detained ahead of the CJP's protest at Jantar Mantar.
Among those detained were former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, TMC's Mamata Banerjee, and All India Students Association's Neha Bora.
The CJP has been demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Summary Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

He responded by saying, "True art is going to have an individual artist point of view embedded within it."

Khan had also voiced his support for the student protest on social media.
He expressed anger over the alleged lathi-charge on students, saying the system meant to protect and support them had already failed them.
He wrote, "Something broke in me today. Watching as police gassed and battered student protestors... how could I make sense of this? These students who worked hard, only to be failed by the system."
