Irrfan's 'Hindi Medium 2' gets new title, director: Details here
Ever since Irrfan Khan returned to India post his cancer treatment in New York, there have been speculations about his onscreen comeback. There were reports about Irrfan returning with Hindi Medium 2. While his fans are ecstatic about the project, recent reports suggest that the makers have changed the title of the movie and also got Homi Adajania as the new director.
Hindi Medium 2 was said to be the sequel of Irrfan's 2017 release Hindi Medium. However, according to the reports, it seems that the makers have decided to present the sequel with a twist. Reportedly, the makers have changed the title of the movie from Hindi Medium to English Medium. Looks like this movie will have a major change in the plot as well.
Meanwhile, director Saket Chaudhary, who had helmed Hindi Medium, reportedly distanced himself from the sequel. It was reported that the director feels that "he's done telling the story he wanted to". As a result, producer Dinesh Vijan had to look out for a new director for the project and got Homi on board, who has directed movies like Cocktail, Finding Fanny, etc.
Vijan also stated that the script of this much-talked-about movie is ready, and they are waiting for Irrfan's recovery before beginning the shoot. "Irrfan has just come back to town. It's the script that's ready. Hopefully, in another month, we'll have clarity," Dinesh was quoted saying. He also stated that no official decision has been made about the cast of the movie.
Irrfan, on the other hand, is being treated at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital, and apparently isn't recovering well, media reports said. The reports further suggested that the healing process is quite exhausting for him. However, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Irrfan's close friend, rubbished the reports and said that he is fine. "I did meet him after he returned to India. He is perfectly fine now," he shared.
To recall, Irrfan has been missing from the limelight for a year now after he was diagnosed with the Neuroendocrine tumor, a rare form of cancer, in March 2018. He shared the news with his fans with a heartfelt note and admitted that dealing with it was quite heart-breaking for him. However, he also expressed his gratitude towards his fans for their unconditional love.
