Hollywood is 'sick' of Prince Harry-Meghan Markle now?
What's the story
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who moved to the US after resigning from active British royal duties, are reportedly facing challenges in Hollywood. According to Page Six, an insider has revealed that there is "not only no appetite left for them in LA, but they've also worn through any goodwill they had." Another source added that people are "sick of them" as their "act" has become "stale."
Deal downgrade
Harry's alleged unprofessionalism to be blamed?
The report noted how the couple's deal with Netflix got downgraded recently. They initially signed a $100 million multi-year deal, which was renewed as a first-look deal. An insider told Page Six the pair lacks business finesse, citing an incident where Harry allegedly arrived late to a Netflix meeting and asked an executive for hot chocolate. A Spotify employee revealed a similar story to Vanity Fair, alleging Harry made the same request, leaving the employees "scrambling" to obtain some.
Control issues
Markle is also facing backlash
Markle is also facing challenges. A source described her as "convinced she's smarter than everyone and dismissive." Another insider revealed that Markle is the one who "controls everything." A January 2025 Vanity Fair report quoted an anonymous media project worker who described their experience with Markle as "really, really, really awful. Very painful."
Staff fears
Staffers reportedly 'terrified' of Markle
A Hollywood Reporter article from September 2024 revealed that staffers are "terrified of Meghan." The source said, "She belittles people, she doesn't take advice. They're both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently. Harry is a very, very charming person, no airs at all, but he's very much an enabler. And she's just terrible."
Ongoing projects
However, the couple is still pushing forward with new shows
Despite the setbacks, the couple is reportedly working on more TV shows. In July, a source told Page Six that Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos remains a huge fan of Harry and Markle. Their Harry & Meghan docuseries and With Love, Meghan have been hits. Their first-look deal with Netflix is similar to the one former US President Barack Obama has with his production company Higher Ground.
