Kannada theater great Yashwanth Sardeshpande (60) dies of cardiac arrest

Yashwanth Sardeshpande, a beloved Kannada playwright, actor, and director, passed away on Sunday in Bengaluru after a cardiac arrest. He was 60.
His loss is being felt deeply across Karnataka's arts community.
He leaves behind his wife Malati and their daughter.

His life and career in pictures

Starting out in Ukkali village, Vijayapura, Sardeshpande trained at Ninasam theater school.
He co-founded the Guru Samsthe repertory in Hubballi and made waves with his hit adaptation of All The Best, which ran over 500 times in Karnataka, other parts of India, and abroad.
Besides acting and directing for stage and film—including writing dialogues for Rama Shama Bhama—he also set up a theater school and auditorium to support new talent in Hubballi.
