Bhandarkar recently quashed rumors about Fatima Sana Shaikh's involvement in the film. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he said, "The reports around her casting were all untrue. She never signed the film or was roped in to play one of the wives." The release date of The Wives is yet to be announced.
