Getting the letter to Thomas wasn't easy, since a Daily Mail reporter was at his bedside, breaching clear ethical boundaries and making private contact exceedingly difficult. With help from trusted friends, the message finally got through.
The father-daughter relationship has been rocky ever since Thomas staged paparazzi photos before Meghan's 2018 wedding and later criticized her and Prince Harry publicly.
Still, Thomas says he'd like to reconnect with Meghan and meet his grandkids someday.
