Oscars: China's official entry is box office hit 'Dead to Rights'

China has picked "Dead to Rights" as its official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.
Directed by Shen Ao, the film follows A Chang (played by Liu Haoran), a postman who risks everything during the 1937 Nanjing Massacre by secretly helping people.
Since its release in China on July 25, it's made a huge impact—earning over RMB 3 billion ($415 million) and topping box office charts for over two weeks.

Film's release and distribution

The movie hit theaters across China and North America, with its North American premiere in August.
Distribution was handled by Niu Vision Media and Echelon Studios.

"Dead to Rights" shines a light on the Nanjing Massacre that claimed around 300,000 lives.
