'Dhurandhar' crew member arrested for drone shoot without permission
What's the story
The Mumbai Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the location manager of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Rinku Rajpal Valmiki. The action was taken after drones were reportedly used on set without permission in Ballard Estate, a high-security area of South Mumbai. This incident comes just days after leaked images from the film's set went viral online, showing actors Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal filming scenes in this locality.
Legal action
FIR filed against Valmiki under this section
According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, the FIR was filed against Valmiki under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charge is for "knowingly disobeying lawful orders from officials." The report adds that the use of drones without permission in Fort, a high-security area, has aggravated the situation.
Confirmation
Valmiki has been arrested
Zonal DCP Pravin Mundhe has confirmed that an FIR has been filed and Valmiki has been arrested. Despite the line producers obtaining permission from the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited for the shoot, they failed to secure permission for flying drones, police sources told Mumbai Mirror.
Shoot halted
Dutt's scene was to be shot using a drone
A local resident, Sanjay Gurav, told Mumbai Mirror that the makers blocked two parallel roads in Fort, Perin Nariman Street and Modi Street, for three days: January 30, January 31, and February 1. On February 1, Dutt arrived to shoot a pivotal scene in Dhurandhar: The Revenge. He was seen wearing a white pathani suit and holding a gun. A drone was supposed to capture his dramatic walk, but the shoot was abruptly halted when police arrived at the scene.
Clash
'Dhurandhar 2' to clash with 'Toxic'
Despite this setback, the makers unveiled a new poster on Tuesday, featuring Ranveer Singh in a gory avatar. It confirmed that the sequel, directed by Aditya Dhar, will indeed release on March 19 this year as planned. It is set to clash with Yash's Toxic, which also stars Nayanthara and Tara Sutaria, among others.
