One of the most established Indian actors with over 180 films, Sanjay Dutt, has been in Bollywood for the last 40 years. Born to actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis, he started his acting career as a child artist in 'Reshma Aur Shera' (1972). The box office superhit film 'Rocky' (1981) marked his debut in the industry. His next movie, 'Vidhaata' became the highest-grossing Hindi film of 1982. The film 'Naam' (1986) became a turning point in his career as it was a critical and commercial success, marking his position in the industry. He gave major blockbusters over the '80s and '90s and collaborated with successful actors, including Govinda, Dharmendra, and Jackie Shroff. However, in 1993, Dutt was arrested under the provisions of the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA), after which he had been in and out of jail several times over the years. Finally, he was released in 2016 after completing his five-year term. Dutt continued appearing in films, which he shot while he was on parole. Rajkumar Hirani made a biopic film, 'Sanju' (2018), on his life starring Ranbir Kapoor.
