What's the story

Ranbir Kapoor, currently basking in the success of his latest film Ramayana: Part 1, has revealed his desire to direct. In a recent interview with BBC Asian News Network, he opened up about his fascination with direction and shared that he started writing a script for it a couple of months ago. "I guess, it's my last decade as an actor...where I can get to play these parts. I do want to kind of pivot towards direction," Kapoor revealed.

Director's perspective

'I just started writing a script...'

Kapoor, 44, shared his thoughts on direction, saying that directors are always in a state of creativity while actors just wait for their next scene.

He said, "I just started writing a script a couple of months back, and it's so hard to create. I have so much respect for writers and creators."

"It's exciting because I truly believe that after a musician, if there's somebody who feels a creative high, it's the director."

Genre preference

What will be the genre?

When asked about the genre of his directorial debut, the Rockstar actor said he doesn't have a specific one in mind but prefers slice-of-life films.

He mentioned his favorite films such as Life is Beautiful and It's a Wonderful Life, as well as Rajkumar Hirani's movies.

"I would say like a feel-good family drama," he added.
