What's the story

Saba Ali Khan, the sister of actor Saif Ali Khan, recently spoke about her relationship with Saif's first wife, actor Amrita Singh. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Khan (50) described Singh (68) as a "motherly figure" who guided her during her formative years. She also clarified that despite their eventual estrangement after Saif (56) and Singh's 2004 separation, there are no hard feelings between them.

Relationship dynamics

'She has given me a lot of direction'

Khan, who was just 15 when Saif married Singh in 1991, spoke fondly of the actor.

She said, "I found her to be very sorted. I liked her. I was fine with her."

"But, she (Amrita) was good with me too. She has given me a lot of direction where my mother might be criticizing me."

Khan also revealed that Singh often gave her fashion advice and corrected her sartorial choices.

Family ties

Khan's loyalties lie with Kareena Kapoor Khan

Khan also made it clear that her loyalties lie with Saif's second wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan.

She said, "I love Bebo. That's clear. My loyalties are exactly where they are meant to be."

Despite this, she emphasized that she shares a cordial relationship with Singh and they greet each other warmly whenever they meet.

"She was a motherly figure in a nicer, more approachable manner than my own mother back then," Khan added.

Wedding absence

Saif and Singh separated in 2004

In a previous conversation with Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi on their show Double Date, Khan and her sister Soha Ali Khan revealed that they missed Saif and Singh's wedding.

"He got married when we were in school. We got a call in the principal's office from the parents saying you won't tell anyone anything," Khan had said.

The couple married in 1991 and had two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, before separating in 2004.
