For the fans of Hindi cinema in the 80s, Amrita Singh was a household name. Her success on the screen and her whirlwind romances off it made her a favorite of fans and the media alike. Singh was born on February 9, 1958, in Hadali. Pakistan. Her father was an army officer and her mother was a close aide of Sanjay Gandhi. She made her Bollywood debut opposite Sunny Deol in the 1983 film ‘Betaab.’ The movie was a hit and she followed it with ‘Mard’ in 1985. In the 80s, she starred opposite most of the leading actors in Bollywood including Sanjay Dutt, Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachan, etc. It wasn’t just her films that made Singh a Bollywood sweetheart. Her much-publicized affairs with Sunny Deol, Ravi Shastri, and Vinod Khanna made her a favorite of the media. In 1991, she married Saif Ali Khan. This was followed by her decision to take a break from Bollywood in 1993. In 2002, she made her big-screen return with ‘23rd March 1931: Shaheed.’ After her split with her husband in 2004, she continued to appear in various supporting roles.
