The second season of the acclaimed series Shogun has announced its new and returning cast members, writers, and directors. The upcoming season will introduce Asami Kizukawa (Aya), Masataka Kubota (Hyuga), Sho Kaneta (Hidenobu), Takaaki Enoki (Lord Ito), and Jun Kunimura (Goda) to the ensemble. They will be joining Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis from Season 1.

Shogun S02 will be set a decade after the first season, continuing the story of "two men from different worlds whose fates are inextricably entwined." The show is based on James Clavell's 1975 novel of the same name and was adapted for television by Kondo and Marks. It is produced by FX Productions with Kondo, Marks, Michaela Clavell, Edward L McDonnell, Michael De Luca, and Sanada as executive producers. Jarvis serves as co-executive producer with Eriko Miyagawa.

The first season of Shogun set a record for the most Emmy Awards won by a series in a single season, with 18 wins.
