Sona Mohapatra slams Badshah's 'Tateeree': 'Tired bravado, sexist lyrics'
Singer Sona Mohapatra has called out Badshah's new song Tateeree, saying its lyrics and visuals rely on "the laziest trope in pop culture."
The track, which dropped on March 1 with Simran Jaglan, is under fire for explicit content and even sparked an FIR from Haryana Police.
Mohapatra specifically criticized lines like Tu mujhpe marti hai, mujhpe jaan chidakti hai as tired bravado, and pushed back against Badshah's "son of Haryana" defense, pointing to the state's troubling gender ratio and history of violence against women.
Mohapatra's history of controversy
Known as an outspoken independent singer-songwriter, Sona Mohapatra isn't new to controversy.
She previously accused Badshah of buying fake views for Pagal Hai and called out Lollapalooza India for lacking Desi headliners.
Her outspoken takes often spark debate in the music scene.
