Sona Mohapatra is an Indian singer, lyricist, and music composer born on June 17, 1976. She started her career with advertising, and one of her most famous jingles was for Tata Salt – 'Kal Ka Bharat Hai'. She released her debut album, 'Sona', on Sony Records in 2007. Mohapatra is credited for singing the Aamir Khan-hosted talk show 'Satyamev Jayate's theme songs, 'Mujhe Kya Bechega Rupaiya' and 'Ghar Yaad Aata Hai Mujhe'. She has also recorded remixes of songs, including 'Let's Dance' with David Bowie and 'Afterglow' with 'INXS'. She came into mainstream prominence with frequent appearances as a lead singer and performer on 'Satyamev Jayate'. Her song 'Jiya Laage Na' from the 2012 Hindi action thriller film 'Talaash' received rave reviews upon its release. Mohapatra has also headlined the international Jodhpur RIFF festival held at the Mehrangarh Fort in Rajasthan. She is an alumna of the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar.
