St Xavier's College brings its 1st Malayalam play to the stage

Entertainment

St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, is about to premiere its first-ever Malayalam play, Osiyath-The Feast, on December 11.
Co-written and co-directed by Evlyn Giju—a third-year student from Thrissur—the story follows a Malayali family navigating grief after their mother's passing.
Set in Kerala during a period of mourning, it spotlights sibling tensions and local traditions like draping the bed with a white sheet.
Giju says she drew from her own grandfather's funeral to keep things real for the audience.

Why this play stands out

Osiyath: The Feast features 15 first-time actors who've been training hard to bring this emotional story to life.
With some scenes hitting close to home for Giju, expect plenty of heartfelt moments on stage.
It's a big step for the college's theater scene—and if you're curious or just want something different, you can catch the show at 4pm in College Hall (grab tickets via @xaviers.fitoor on Instagram).
