Is Deol's character affecting film's performance?

When recently asked if Deol's portrayal of a Muslim character impacted the film's box-office performance, Santoshi dismissed it.

He clarified that Deol is not playing a Pakistani Muslim but an Indian one who has been forced to migrate to Lahore.

The film also stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Abhimanyu Singh, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, and Khushi Hajare.

It was released on August 14, clashing with Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2.
