Suriya's 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' to hit Netflix on Thursday, April 7
Etharkkum Thunindhavan gets a digital release date! Starring Suriya, the action drama is set to hit Netflix on April 7 (Thursday). The Pandiraj-directorial had released in the cinema halls on March 10, so this means the film is poised for its OTT outing after almost a month of its theatrical premiere. Etharkkum Thunindhavan also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan as Aadhini, partner of Kannabiran (Suriya).
- Etharkkum Thunindhavan, a rural drama, marked Suriya's first theatrical release after the pandemic.
- His last theatrical outing before this was Kaappaan, which had come out in 2019.
- And, like most of his recent releases, Etharkkum Thunindhavan was a megahit as well minting Rs. 179-200cr against a budget of Rs. 75cr.
- So, though critics gave it mixed to positive reviews, fans loved the movie.
While announcing the date, Netflix India South wrote, "One look at this couple and our head is spinning, summa surrrun! Etharkkum Thunindhavan, coming to Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi on April 7th." Bankrolled by Sun Pictures, the film's music was composed by National Film Award-winner D Imman. In our review, we had written that Suriya shoulders the film quite efficiently.

Veteran actors Sathyaraj and Saranya Ponvannan played pivotal roles in the film, while Unnale Unnale fame Vinay Rai was the main antagonist. Loosely based on Tamil Nadu's Pollachi sexual assault case, Etharkkum Thunindhavan featured Suriya as a lawyer who stood up for sexual assault victims. As said in the announcement, the film will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi on Netflix.
Separately, Suriya recently signed a film with director Bala, tentatively titled Suriya 41. The film is being bankrolled by Jyothika-Suriya's 2D Entertainment. It marks Bala's fourth collaboration with Suriya and their first collaboration in 18 years. Krithi Shetty plays the female lead. Reportedly, Suriya will be seen in dual role in the film. Besides this, he also has Vaadivaasal, directed by Vetrimaaran, in waiting.
