
'Thamma' v/s 'Ek Deewane Ki...': Who's winning Diwali box-office fight?
What's the story
The Diwali week is set for a box office showdown between Ayushmann Khurrana's Thamma and Harshvardhan Rane's Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. While the former is a horror-comedy, the latter is an intense romantic drama. Both films opened their advance bookings last week and according to Sacnilk, Thamma has taken an early lead in this race.

'Thamma' is way ahead of 'EDKD'
As per Sacnilk, Thamma has sold over 1.21 lakh tickets in Hindi and Telugu languages till Monday afternoon. This translates to an estimated first-day collection of ₹3.43 crore. In contrast, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has sold around 46,840 tickets during the same period with an estimated first-day collection of ₹1.28 crore. These figures do not account for online and offline spot bookings.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal. The film is part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Meanwhile, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is directed by Milap Zaveri and features Rane opposite Sonam Bajwa in a passionate love story. Both films will hit theaters on Tuesday.
