Here are some lesser known facts about The Big Bang Theory.

Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki made big money

Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons, and Johnny Galecki made big money from the show. They started making $60,000 per episode for 3 seasons. This was then increased to $200,000 from Season 4-6 and then $350,000 in Season 7. From Season 8 till now, their earnings skyrocketed to $1mn per episode. The stars have each made a whopping $139.8mn.

Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar caught up from Season 10

Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar play Howard and Raj, respectively. They initially made lesser than Cuoco (Penny), Parsons (Sheldon), and Galecki (Leonard). Even in Seasons 8 and 9, Helberg and Nayyar made $750,000 per episode. From Season 10, they they started earning $1mn.

Actors took a pay cut to help out co-stars

While we mention the massive money cast members make, it's necessary to bring up their gesture of taking a pay cut. When they discovered Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch, who play Amy and Bernadette respectively, had a massive pay gap, they took a pay cut. Cast members gave up $100,000 per episode, making $900,000 to ensure their co-stars were paid more.

Salary part done, now let's shift our focus to references

Now that you know the massive amounts of money these stars make on the show, here are some lesser known details about your favorite show. We have tried to limit the quirkiness to major characters and references in the show.

Penny does not have a last name

Penny does not have a last name on The Big Bang Theory. What might have initially started off as an oversight on part of the scriptwriters, has now become a closely guarded secret. Cuoco is determined to keep the surname a secret throughout the series. With the show ending perhaps this is one mystery that will never be revealed to the fans.

'Soft Kitty' Sheldon's comfort song exists in reality

Soft Kitty is Sheldon's comfort song when he falls ill. However, this song exists in the real world, or at least a variation of it does. Titled Warm Kitty, it is a 1930s song by Edith Newlin. The producer Bill Prady had revealed that his daughter would sing the Soft Kitty song in pre-school after one of her teachers heard it while in Australia.

The origin of 'bazinga', Sheldon's favorite catchphrase

Bazinga is Sheldon's favorite catchphrase and there's even a species of bees with the name he popularized on the show. However, it was included in the show, in Season 2's finale following a silly prank from writer Stephen Engel. Engel pulled a prank using an old grapefruit, according to producer Bill Prady. Every time someone fell for it, he said 'Bazinga' instead of 'Gotcha'.
