The decision was made due to "unexpected logistical challenges and conditions out of our control," as per a statement on the band's Facebook page. The group was scheduled to perform in Bengaluru on October 11 and Mumbai on October 12 as part of their Rock Invasion 2025 Asia Tour.

The band, fronted by Billy Corgan with James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, expressed regret over the cancellation. They stated, "We cannot perform these shows up to the standards that we and our fans expect." The group was set to be joined by live tour members Jack Bates (bass), Kiki Wong (guitar), and multi-instrumentalist Katie Cole for a three-decade-spanning setlist.

The Rock Invasion 2025 Asia Tour started in Japan in September and includes stops in Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Busan, Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta and Singapore. This two-month-long tour is the band's first visit to Asia in over a decade, 12 years since their last trip to Japan and 15 years since they last visited South Korea. The tour was brought to India by EVA Live.
