What's the story

The much-anticipated collaboration between director Rajkumar Hirani and actor Ranbir Kapoor is on hold, reported Mid-Day. The duo, who previously worked together in Sanju (2018), was expected to reunite for a biopic. However, industry insiders have revealed that this project has been pushed to 2027 due to script delays and Kapoor's packed schedule. Meanwhile, Hirani is now focusing on his upcoming biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke with Aamir Khan.

Project delay

'Hirani decided to park it'

A trade source told the portal, "Hirani and Ranbir were very excited about this one; they had been jamming on it through the year." "But since the script needed more time, Hirani decided to park it. Ranbir's calendar is packed, so it made sense to regroup later." "Everyone wants it to be like Sanju, so they're okay to wait."

New focus

Meanwhile, Hirani is busy with Khan

With the biopic on hold, Hirani has turned his attention to the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic with Khan. This project is set to go on floors in January 2026. An insider revealed that Khan has been preparing for this role for months by changing his look and participating in workshops. This will be Khan's first portrayal of a real-life pioneer of cinema, and Hirani aims to "give it the grandeur it deserves."

Actor's schedule

What's next for Kapoor?

Kapoor is currently busy with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War and the second part of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. After completing these projects, he will decide between Dhoom 4 and Animal Park, both of which are in advanced development. Earlier, the actor made a cameo appearance in Hirani's PK (2014), which also starred Khan.
