OTT clash! It's 'Valimai' vs 'Bheemla Nayak' on March 25
It will be a clash of biggies, but this time on the OTT platforms! On Friday (March 25), Ajith Kumar's latest outing Valimai will engage in a head-on fight with Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati-led Bheemla Nayak. While Valimai hits ZEE5, Bheemla Nayak is set to hit Disney+ Hotstar and the Telugu regional streamer aha simultaneously. To note, both films have done well commercially.
Given the film is co-produced by ZEE Studios, ZEE5 bagging the post-theatrical rights of Valimai makes sense. Directed by H Vinoth, the action-packed entertainer has also been bankrolled by Boney Kapoor. ZEE5 will stream Valimai in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Announcing the development, makers wrote, "The wait is over! It's here Action, Style, Swag all gets updated on #ZEE5 on March 25th (sic)."
Apart from Ajith Kumar, or AK, Valimai co-stars Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya Gummakonda as the main antagonist, and Sumithra as AK's mother. Aided by a non-linear narrative, it revolves around a battle between a cop and a mafia kingpin. Kapoor earlier hinted at a possible sequel, too. "If audience and fans of AK want the same, and if everything comes together, sequel would be made."
Meanwhile, Bheemla Nayak is the official Telugu remake of the critically acclaimed Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon. Directed by Saagar K Chandra, Bheemla Nayak has collected Rs. 192.86 crore in three weeks. In its third week, its earning stood at an impressive Rs. 5.82 crore. The film, produced by Sithara Entertainments, had released in cinema halls on February 25.
Separately, AK's next film AK 61 will reunite him with Vinoth and Kapoor. This will mark the third collaboration of the trio after Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai. Besides this, he has a Vignesh Shivan directorial. Kalyan, meanwhile, has the action-drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, and a project with director Surender Reddy that will reportedly be rolled out this year.
