Zakir Khan clears quitting rumors: 'Just taking a break'
Stand-up star Zakir Khan wants fans to know he's not leaving comedy for good.
I just want to take a break, not quit... This will just be a 1.5- to two-year break, he shared, clearing up the rumors.
Why he decided to take a break
Khan first mentioned his plans during his Papa Yaar tour in Hyderabad this January. After years of nonstop work and some family health issues, he decided it was time to focus on recovery and personal life.
He compared it to standing on an escalator for 10 years: eventually, your body needs rest.
He announced a break in January 2026 and said it would last about 1.5-2 years (so he would likely be offstage until mid-2027 to early-2028).
His health and the viral clip
Recently, some reports exaggerated his health concerns and even suggested he was quitting.
Khan called those rumors "rubbish" and clarified that while things aren't perfect health-wise, they're not as bad as people say.
The viral quitting clip? A clip of his Hyderabad announcement was widely shared and interpreted by some as him quitting, and he's definitely coming back after his break.
