Firefighters were able to control the fire and stop it from spreading to nearby buildings in the densely populated area. The incident comes days after a devastating nightclub fire in North Goa that killed 25 people. Following the tragedy, Odisha Fire and Emergency Services (OFES) had ordered a statewide audit of all restaurants and standalone establishments with seating capacity above 100.

Over 80 bars in Bhubaneswar have no fire safety clearance
More than 80 standalone bars and restaurants with bars in Bhubaneswar were found not to have fire safety clearance. According to TNIE, officials at the Excise department said the state capital has approximately 58 hotels and 82 restaurants with bars for customers. While most hotels have certificates from the Odisha Fire and Emergency Service, smaller bars and restaurants do not.
