AI plane crash prompts Ahmedabad airport survey
After the tragic Air India crash near Ahmedabad on June 12, which claimed 270 lives, officials are launching a full survey of the airport's surroundings.
The goal is to spot anything—like tall buildings or other obstacles—that could put future flights at risk.
What will the teams do?
Teams from the city and aviation departments will scan for structures breaking height or safety rules.
District Collector Sujeet Kumar says any risky spots will be fixed right away.
Plus, new rules called the Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions) Rules, 2025 are coming in to help keep airport areas clear and flights safer for everyone.
Flight to London met with accident
The flight was headed to London but crashed just outside the airport minutes after takeoff.
Out of 242 people on board, only one survived.
The tragedy also took 29 lives on the ground—including five medical students—making it a heartbreaking moment for many families.
