Air India crash: Comprehensive check due December 2025
India
An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, flying to London Gatwick, crashed into a residential area near BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad just after takeoff on Thursday. Sadly, more than 265 people lost their lives. The plane had its last major maintenance in June and wasn't due for another check until December.
Extra safety checks ordered on all Air India Boeing 787s
The aircraft's engines were inspected earlier this year and officials say there were no known issues before takeoff, though Air India hasn't made an official statement yet. After the crash, aviation authorities ordered extra safety checks on all Air India Boeing 787s, with help from GE Aerospace. Investigators are now working to find out what caused the tragedy.
