Air India leaves 256 passengers stranded in Milan ahead Diwali
Just days before Diwali, Air India canceled its Milan to Delhi flight (AI138) on October 17, 2024, after a technical issue grounded their Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
This left 256 passengers and 10 crew stranded in Milan.
The airline quickly arranged hotels and meals, though some travelers had to stay farther from the airport due to limited space.
Passengers rebooked on flights on or after October 20
Most people were rebooked on flights on or after October 20—which could mean they might miss Diwali at home.
One passenger with a Schengen visa expiring on October 20 got a special booking for an earlier flight to avoid visa trouble.
Air India has apologized for the disruption and says they're doing their best to help everyone get home soon.
Air India's Dreamliner fleet has faced technical problems
This isn't the first time Air India's Dreamliner fleet has faced technical problems, and it's been affecting their flight schedules lately.
The airline says they're supporting stranded passengers.
