    Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today announced a slew of development projects worth over Rs. 3,600cr for Ludhiana district, ranging from infrastructure to water supply and industries to education. Addressing the people on 72nd Independence Day at Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana, Singh announced the allocation of Rs. 1,469cr for a project to shift from the current groundwater supply to 24x7 surface water supply.

    Received in-principle approval for establishment of Civil Enclave: Singh

    The water project, Singh said, was approved in principle by the Department of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and was posted to World Bank/ADB for external financing. In principle approval was also received for the establishment of a Civil Enclave at Indian Air Force Station Halwara, Singh said, adding that the Punjab government was pursuing the matter with the Center.

    Rs. 117cr will be spent on Mega Food Park: Singh

    While Rs. 350cr was earmarked for facilitating the development of Hero Cycles Park as part of Hi-Tech Cycle Valley, Rs. 250cr was set aside for the Oswal Integrated Business Park, Singh said, adding that the projects would generate employment. Another Rs. 117cr will be spent on a Mega Food Park, to come up in over 100 acres at Ladhowal, he added.

    Hospital to be established in memory of former Punjab CM

    Singh also announced Rs. 483cr for various urban development works, including Rs. 366cr for the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation. In another key decision, the Chief Minister announced setting up of a 30-bed hospital at Doraha in the memory of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. Further, Rs. 64 lakh would be provided for setting up a 10-bed mini-Primary Health Center (PHC) at Jhorda village.

    Singh announced Rs. 450cr for development of convention center

    Fulfilling a long-pending demand of Ludhiana industrialists, Singh announced Rs. 450cr for the development of a convention and exhibition center, which would come up over six acres of land on Chandigarh-Ludhiana road. The project would be completed in six months.
