Andhra Pradesh begins year-long 'Vande Mataram' celebration
Andhra Pradesh just kicked off a year-long celebration for the 150th anniversary of "Vande Mataram"—the iconic song that inspired generations during India's freedom struggle.
At the launch event in Vijayawada, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu highlighted how the song's message was so powerful it was once banned by the British, but that only made people more determined to fight for independence.
Celebrations to continue through November 2026
The celebrations will run through November 2026, with events happening in four phases.
Naidu took a moment to appreciate how far India has come since independence and credited PM Modi for pushing India onto the global stage.
The event also saw the release of a new book on "Vande Mataram," with local leaders joining in to honor its lasting impact on Indian identity and unity.
