Bengaluru airport just made travel smoother for differently-abled flyers

India

Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport has rolled out Mobility Assist—the first system in India that lets passengers with reduced mobility board, deplane, and move around the terminal with mechanical assistance directly from their wheelchair.
Donated by Dr. BS Ajaikumar, founder & executive chairman of Healthcare Global Enterprises (HCG), in memory of his son Adarsh, who lived with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, this new tech aims to make airport journeys a lot less stressful.

More than just a 1-off: Setting the bar for accessibility

Mobility Assist is part of the airport's bigger push for inclusivity—think sunflower lanyards for hidden disabilities and sensory rooms for neurodivergent travelers.
The airport's CEO calls it "Mobility Assist is a significant step toward an inclusive airport experience," while Dr. Ajaikumar hopes other airports across India will follow suit.
