Bengaluru tech support scam cons 150+ US-UK citizens out of crores
India
A cybercrime gang in Bengaluru posed as Microsoft tech support, tricking over 150 people from the US and UK since August.
They scared victims with fake warnings about security breaches and FTC violations, pushing them to pay around $10,000 each via Bitcoin ATMs for bogus security fixes—leading to losses worth crores.
How police busted the operation
Bengaluru Police raided a call center called Musk Communications in Whitefield's Sigma Soft Tech Park on November 14 and 15, arresting 21 employees who acted as fake support agents.
They also nabbed Ravi Chauhan from Ahmedabad for allegedly recruiting most of the staff.
The case is now under investigation as police work to track down others involved and recover stolen funds.
