Bengaluru's Uttarahalli Road to be widened into 3.4km signal-free corridor

India

Big update for Bengaluru commuters: Uttarahalli Main Road is getting a major makeover.
Soon, this busy stretch will become a 3.4km signal-free corridor, making drives between Mysuru Road and Kanakapura Road way smoother.
The ₹51 crore project, led by B-SMILE, is set to benefit everyone from Kengeri to Mylasandra and Uttarahalli.
Property acquisition is already in progress, with some owners opting for development rights.

What's changing on the ground?

Work had paused earlier because of tree clearance issues and property objections, but things are moving again—BESCOM's been paid for shifting electric poles.
The upgraded road will have two wide carriageways, a median, and proper footpaths—all topped with sturdy blacktop—so walking or driving should feel safer and easier.

When can you expect the new road?

Construction is expected to restart around Sankranti and wrap up by mid-August if all goes well.
Once done, this signal-free stretch should seriously cut down congestion in west and south Bengaluru—making daily commutes less of a headache for thousands.
