Jealous over friend's affair, Gujarat teen chops him into pieces
What's the story
In a shocking case of jealousy-fueled violence, a 19-year-old from Gujarat's Kutch district has been arrested for murdering his friend. The accused, Kishore Maheshwari, allegedly killed Ramesh Maheshwari over a dispute involving Anjali, a married woman both were interested in. The crime was committed on December 2 but came to light only after Ramesh's brother filed a missing person's report the next day.
Crime motive
Jealousy over Anjali leads to confrontation
According to Superintendent of Police Vikas Sunda, Kishore was jealous of Ramesh's relationship with Anjali. "Kishor also wanted to pursue a relationship with Anjali, who informed Ramesh about his advances. He was extremely jealous of Ramesh," Sunda said. The two friends had a confrontation after Anjali told Ramesh about Kishore's advances on Instagram. Although they reconciled, the jealousy continued to fester in Kishore.
Murder details
Kishore lures Ramesh to farm, commits murder
On December 2, Kishore invited Ramesh to a party at his workplace farm. They traveled on a two-wheeler with a minor accomplice joining them en route. At the farm, an argument over Anjali escalated and ended with Kishore killing Ramesh using a spade. With help from the minor, he dismembered Ramesh's body and disposed of the head and hands in different borewells while burying the torso in a cotton field.
Evidence tampering
Accused attempts to mislead police
Kishore and his accomplice also burned Ramesh's clothes and tried to cover up blood stains with soil. They turned on water in the field to wash away evidence and burned the murder weapon. In an attempt to mislead investigators, Kishore sent messages from Ramesh's phone implicating Anjali's brother in a supposed threat against him. This was an effort to divert suspicion toward Anjali's family, police said.
