Centre greenlights ₹44,771cr for Odisha's roads

India

Big news for Odisha: the Centre just approved a massive ₹44,771 crore to upgrade roads across the state in 2025-26.
This covers five national and five state highway projects, plus extra support from the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
The announcement came after Odisha's Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan met with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday.

Why should you care?

Better roads mean faster travel—think Bhubaneswar-Puri getting eight lanes, smoother rides on Tangi-Ichchapuram and Rourkela-Paradip routes, and a brand new corridor linking Bhubaneswar to Paradip port.
State highways like Barpali-Bolangir and Berhampur-Kalusandhpur are also set for upgrades.
All this isn't just about shorter trips; it's expected to boost jobs, trade, and make life easier for everyone traveling or doing business in Odisha.
