Centre's infrastructure boost in J&K: Spotlight on 2 key tunnels
The government has just approved 19 big infrastructure projects worth ₹10,637 crore in Jammu and Kashmir.
The focus is on building key tunnels like Peer-Ki-Gali and Sadhana, plus upgrading highways to keep the region connected all year—even through tough winters.
The Border Roads Organisation will take charge of tunnel construction.
Changes will help locals, improve access for troops
These upgrades aren't just about smoother travel—they're set to make life easier for everyone living in or moving through J&K.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted that the new tunnels mean faster movement for troops and better access for locals, especially during winter when roads usually shut down.
With improved routes, there's a boost for local businesses too.
Omar Abdullah also credited national leaders for making these much-needed changes happen, calling them vital for both security and economic growth in the region.
