Chilly north westerly winds make Chandigarh feel extra wintry

India

Chandigarh just had its coldest morning so far, with temperatures dropping to 9.4°C—almost 4 degrees below the usual for this time of year.
The IMD says it's all thanks to chilly North Westerly winds blowing in from the hills, making Tuesday feel extra wintry.

Shimla and Kasauli also feel the cold

It's not just Chandigarh feeling the cold—Shimla dipped to 8.4°C and Kasauli hit 11.1°C as winter settles in across the region.
On the bright side, the cooler weather has actually improved Chandigarh's air quality: for the first time this month, AQI dropped below 100 and hit a "satisfactory" 80.
Forecasters say these lower temps are here to stay for now, with chilly mornings expected all week.
