CJI Surya Kant grants NEET-UG women molestation complainants HPEC access
If you were women protestors at the NEET-UG protests on July 20 and experienced complaints of sexual molestation against police personnel, you can now directly approach the nodal officer of the High-Powered Enquiry Committee (HPEC).
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant made this move after hearing calls for a more sensitive way to handle these cases.
A judicial officer will be your main contact, making sure complaints are heard and handled seriously.
HPEC probes July 20 police misconduct
The HPEC, led by retired Justice R. Subhash Reddy, is also digging into claims of police misconduct, like harassment or violence against protesters, and the authorized pellet gun use against protestors on July 20.
The Supreme Court has told the committee to focus especially on cases involving police abuse, showing it is serious about getting justice for anyone hurt during these protests.
